Police arrest TikToker Ekow Black over viral assault video

Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service following a viral video showing him physically assaulting a woman.

The Police confirmed the arrest in a Facebook post, saying it was carried out on Thursday, January 15, 2026, by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team.

"The Ghana Police Service, through the c, has arrested a suspect captured in a viral video physically assaulting a woman," the statement said.

Investigations suggest that Danful and the woman, who previously lived together, had a troubled relationship marked by repeated disagreements that reportedly escalated into verbal confrontations and physical assaults.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the woman, who previously lived together, had a history of disagreements that reportedly escalated into verbal confrontations and physical assaults," the statement added.

The arrest comes after widespread condemnation on social media, where users called for accountability in cases of domestic and gender-based violence, particularly involving online influencers.

"Suspect Danful is currently in lawful custody and is expected to be put before the court to face charges in accordance with the law," the Police said.

The Police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and upholding the law.

"The Ghana Police Service reassures the public of its commitment to protecting lives, upholding the law, and ensuring that acts of violence are dealt with decisively," the statement concluded.

Court proceedings are expected in the coming days as investigations continue.
